This Bed & Breakfast accommodation is provided in a house that is tucked away in the Western coastal rainforests of New Zealand's North Island, near Auckland.
BED & BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATION
The house is set in a quiet spot and approached up a drive, which is lined with the ferns and Kauri trees that are native to New Zealand. Two bedrooms are available for B&B, providing accommodation for between 1 to 3 guests, served by their own private bathroom.
The sofas in the comfortable lounge are set around a large fireplace, and windows keep that lush tropical scenery in sight. A great place to relax at the end of the day and to make plans for the days ahead.
Breakfast is served in the dining room or outside on the patio, and once you are refreshed and ready to go, why not set off on one of the many trails into the forest.
In spite of its apparent remoteness, the B&B is actually just 30 miles from the airport and a short drive to the West of Auckland.
Auckland
Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand and has a wealth of cultural, shopping and sight-seeing opportunities on offer, in addition to the many water-based activities that are centred in this area.
Waitakere Ranges
What makes a vacation in the Auckland area so special is the Waitakere Ranges. This is the huge 'wilderness park' is right on Auckland's door-step, with over 19,000 acres open to the public and 200kms of trails for hiking and rambling. Visitors to Auckland are usually taken-aback by the area, because the Auckland Tourism body has been slow to promote its presence. The movie industry has been quicker to recognise its potential, with films including The Piano, Zena and Hercules all being filmed in the area.
New Zealand's North Island
While New Zealand's South Island is renowned for its dramatic natural scenery, influenced by its remotness and sub-proximity to Antarctica, the North Island has a very different climate but no less spectacular natural sights.
With a sub-tropical climate, the Waitakere area around Auckland is home to abundant wildlife and delights visitors with waterfalls, streams that meander and cascade through the forests, and glorious beaches with their rain-forest backdrop - indeed it is more reminiscent of Borneo Island than the more common New Zealand images that are conjured up by Milford Sound and Mount Cook and of course the landscapes made famous by the filming of the Lord of the Rings triology.
Local Art
Art lovers will delight in the fact that the bed & breakfast acommodation is located next to the artist community in Titirangi, a small town located on a hill-top. What better place to buy a painting or other mementoes to remind you of your holiday, here in New Zealand.
Beaches
The main photo at the top of this page is Piha Beach. Home to a small community and a magnet for surfers, Piha beach is about 30 minutes drvie from the B&B in Titirangi village.
Closer to home, the beaches around Titirangi are peaceful and unspolit. The nearest is Cornwallis Beach, a 10 minute drive away and a very enjoyable walk.
This tranquil sandy beach on the Manukau Harbour is a popular spot for picnics and walkers, its fringe of Pohutokawa trees leading into the forest.
Hobbiton - Lord of the Rings
The filming of the Lord of the Rings trilogy has been a spur for many people to visit New Zealand for a vacation. While many locations were on the South Island of New Zealand, the charming setting for Hobbiton was located in MataMata, about 2 hours drive South of Auckland and guests have enjoyed the visit.
BOOKING INFORMATION
The B&B can be found along the road to Titirangi Beach, to the West of Auckland.
